Passionate Portions, Inc.
It's official! If you've been following along with me for a while, you know that I've had a few blogs, a few names, and many website designs. Chalk it up to experience, seasons of life, and a past with perfectionism. Well, now, I've done the paperwork (and counseling) and have an official business name, so no major changes are coming to this space - yay!
What is Passionate Portions?
Passionate Portions is a place for me to share my nutrition career passion through writing, recipes, and coaching. However, as I've recently told my husband that "I'm a multi-faceted one-trick pony", I wear many hats and have multiple passions - one of them being destroying clichés. (He's keeping a list, so expect more to come.).
Things you'll see here include:
• Ideas for living a healthy life, not defined by nutrition labels or body size, but by balance, joy, intention, internal peace, and overall wellness. I'm a non-diet dietitian, so I love learning about the latest science and eating to feel great, but I don't believe in diets or restrictive mindsets. Read more on that here or listen to my interview on the Eating With Grace podcast in episode 7.
• Thoughts on motherhood. Now a mom of a toddler, I'm constantly pivoting to keep up with an active boy and learning my parenting journey. He's one of my greatest sources of inspiration, and I'm constantly learning more things about myself and this wonderful world through his eyes. Read how he helped me overcome a battle with postpartum anxiety here or listen to my interview on the Eating With Grace podcast in episode 7.
• DIY and crafting. "I want to make something" marked the phrase most heard by my childhood best friend. A daughter of a carpenter, it's in my blood to want my hands involved in some sort of project, which for me, usually means a household item or gadget to make our lives easier, our house more functional, and our environment a little more beautiful.
• Travel. A military child, my scenery didn't stay static for long, and now I find myself constantly wanderlusting as an adult, and I want my child to grow up accustomed to travel. Our go-to favorite destination is Tennessee (aside from this magical treehouse in South Carolina), although we're fond of any place we can set our discoveries on foot and I can find gluten-free treasures. (Important to note here that this is a serious intolerance, not a preference or weight strategy. I'd give my left pinky toe to eat Whole Food's Seeduction bread again.)
• Things that make me human. We're not limited to our job titles or past, and if the past few years have taught me anything, it's that I'm constantly evolving and growing. I choose to live out struggles and joys in community with others instead of hiding them in shame. I'm learning that weaknesses are actually great opportunities, and I work to encourage others in their struggles. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (The Message) is becoming my anthem in this life.
